In the summer of 1988 The FinBuster Fishing Team set off on a routine tournament fishing weekend with some brand new "store bought rods". Minutes after the Bimini Start, the Captain and owner of FinBuster Custom Rods noticed a large swirl around a patch of weeds. He guided his boat close and pitched out a live bait. When the bait hit the water another huge swirl of water was noticed just feet away from the bait. Instantly the line started screaming off this brand new reel. The fish ended up being a possible catch of a lifetime and potential world record Dolphin (Mahi-Mahi). Having seen several of these fish upwards of the 70lb range everyone on board was amazed at the size. About 15 minutes into the fight the brand new store bought rod snapped in half and a few minutes later the line broke. After a few choice words the captain said to his team that he would never use another fishing rod unless he built it himself. That moment was when FinBuster Custom Rods was created and the the reason why over 21 years later we are still making custom fishing rods. 

Just for the record, there has only been 1 broken rod in 21 years and zero lost tournament fish due to rod failure.  Thats the difference between Fishing and "Catching". Which one would you rather be doing?
